Meeting will at 5:00 pm 12/9 at 1550 Franklin Avenue. Nassau County is currently in the Environmental Review Process, formally known as the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) process, that is a necessary step in Las Vegas Sands’ quest for a casino license at the Nassau Hub. The County Legislature is expected to release the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) this week. The County will hold a special public hearing where all residents can weigh in with their concerns. It is very important that we get as many people as possible to attend this hearing. If we don’t stand up and SAY NO, our Legislators will vote yes!Date: Monday, December 9thTime: 5:00 PM (arrive early for parking)Place: 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola (building with the dome)Bring Friends and Family! Hand made signs are welcome! We need to attend this hearing and show our elected officials that we are watching them. The overwhelming majority of Nassau County residents do not want this casino. Our representatives in the County Legislature must not be allowed to ignore their constituents any longer. We, the residents and taxpayers who own this land, demand that it be developed into something that lifts up Nassau County. We do not want a project that will degrade our environment, our people, our families, our communities, and our economy.
